This represents 75% of the total U.S. adult population. 47.3% are men and 52.7% are women. 143.2 million American adults wear prescription eyeglasses. This is 64.0% of the adult population. 46.9% are men and 53.1% are women

Absolutely stunning findings

Although studies have shown that 1 in 4 children have vision problems, a recently released survey revealed that 48% of parents with children age 12 and younger have not taken their child to an eye doctor (Source: Study commissioned by Vision Service Plan (VSP) and conducted by National Market Measures, Inc., published in Primary Care Optometry News - July 2002). Just as disturbing, more than 7.7 % of American adults with children living at home believe you can definitely tell if a child has a vision problem by simply looking at them.
