Artist Statement: Recently I have been making paintings using acrylic paints. My study with Patti Brady, an artist and representative for Golden acrylic paints, opened an old window for me into the process of painting. I have found this medium energizing; a worthy challenge and I feel successful with my attempts. The works are relatively small at this point and getting larger. Largest work to date is 12 x 15 inches painted on panel. After the death of Pope John II, I was interested in the way the world waited for the "New" Pope. This sparked a visitation to earlier "Papal pastels" I had completed while living in Italy during the 1980s. "Cardinals in Waiting", an oil pastel and oil bar drawing, was a result of this interest.

I am still working with the crow figure with introductions of the human figure, as in my Sticks and Stones series. The blind crow series continues and has been a subject in the new paintings.

The boat image has been a recent form I am working with as well. Both the crow and boat are being developed in painting and monotype prints.

Metaphorically the boat is a vehicle for our paths in life. The crow is a representative of humankind. The images often suggest the politics of war or disasters of unknown origins.

The mystery of these images is what intrigues me to continue with the act of making images.
