Artist Statement:
I am more interested in subtle differences in value than in playing with bold, bright colors. I like the feel of large open compositions, when areas of brushwork are as important as objects. I look for subject matter that challenges my abilities, but does not overshadow the most important aspect of the work and the materials themselves. Paint is fluid and spontaneous. Paint is color. It is the composition. It is the subject matter. Paint is its own reality and an illusion at the same time. Examining my ideas and influences compels me to look for new ways to express them.
