Cham Little Title: Untitled abstract face Studio: Directions: From Downtown Greenville take College Street to Buncombe Street. Continue on Buncombe, over the new bridge (Pete Hollis Blvd.). Take the first right after the bridge. Take the second right onto Old Buncombe Road. The studio is on the corner of Seizmore and Old Buncombe Road. Artist Statement: Most of my art is motivated primarily by instinct. The major force that drives this instinct has to do with the surfacing of subconscious relationships among a variety of subjects and formal visual elements. My work is very spontaneous. I rely on accident, mainly. I like to produce art to see something new and fresh. It is important to do a series of work to see how it develops. From the series I can choose the strongest elements. These elements can be used in the next work. My abstract faces may appear to be distorted; sometimes one eye is seen straight on, the other to the side, the nose off to the side and a large mouth. I am trying to represent two views at the same time. These pieces take time to view; the more you look, the more you see. |
