Deb Bridges Title: Lidded raku pot Studio: Directions: From Downtown Greenville take 25-276 (Rutherford Road/Poinsett Highway) toward Furman/Asheville. At the Cherrydale Shopping Center, turn left on Highway 253. At the 2nd red light, turn left onto N. Franklin. Turn left on Dykeson Ave. Studio is at the corner of Dykeson and Darlington: #301. Artist Statement: Raku is a very fast, unpredictable method of firing pottery. Seemingly insignificant things like a breeze blowing into the kiln vent holes or the speed at which the kiln is heated can make a glaze change from copper to green or from glossy to matte. Something about giving up total control of the outcome allows me to experiment with the pottery process, playing with forms and textures.. |
